Moses Talks with the Lord Jesus
Today we continued learning about Moses. Moses reflected about his life and how amazed he was by what he had learned about God. He thought of God's Care and how he had been rescued by the Pharaoh's daughter, he learned of God's guidance from his experience with the burning bush, he learned of God's Power from the terrible plagues in Egypt and the parting of the Red Sea and of God's holiness on Mount Sinai.
Over the past 40 years Moses was amazed by God's patience and provision for the grumbling Israelites. God told moses to climb Mount Nebo and there his life would end. Moses was 120 years old. God told Moses, "Take Joshua before Eleazar and all the people and tell him, 'God has chosen you to lead the people.' When the Israelites hear you, they will obey Joshua."
After speaking to the people his last time, Moses turned and began his slow climb up Mount Nebo all alone. At the top of the mountain God showed moses the wonderful land of Canaan. Moses was grateful for God to give him the gift of being able to see the promised land before he died.
Many years later Lord Jesus returned to the mountain with His disciples- Peter, James and john. The Lord Jesus began praying and Peter, james and John became very sleepy and fell asleep. As Jesus prayed, he was transfigured and his face shone like the sun and His clothes were white and glistening. The brightness of His glory as God the Son- the glory that was His in Heaven- was shining through His earthly body!
The prophet Elijah and Moses appeared and spoke with the Lord Jesus! Even after being dead many years. They talked about how Jesus would soon die on a cross outside the city of Jerusalem. The Lord Jesus is the Savior who came to die for the sins of the world.
The three sleepy disciples woke up and God had given them the ability to recognize Elijah and Moses. Peter wanted to worship them at this place but then God had sent a cloud and spoke to the disciples and said "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!" God wanted the disciples to know that Jesus is not just a man like Moses and Elijah. He is God the Son-the one they should listen to and obey!
Even though this event happened hundreds of years after moses lived and died, it is a wonderful ending to his story! Moses was a man who dedicated his whole life to listening to God and obeying Him. What a great privilege for Moses to finally stand in the promised land and talk with the Lord Jesus Christ,Son of the living God.

Moses Lifts Up the Brazen Serpent
Moses Lifts Up the Brazen Serpent
Today we continued learning about Moses. After Moses and Eleazar returned from the mountain with out Aaron they returned to the people. They were sad and had mourned for 39 days. Eleazar ad become the spiritual leader (Pastor) of the people in his fathers place. Soon after that poisonous snakes entered the Israelite camp. Many even died from the snakebites. The people cried to Moses to pray to God to take the snakes away. God still loved the people in spite of their sin and heard Moses' prayers. God had a plan to take the snakes away and cure them from the deadly snakebites. God told Moses to "make a snake out of bronze and put it on a pole in the desert" He said. "Those who've been bitten should look at the bronze snake and they will live."
It may have seemed too easy to some, but it was God's only way for them to be cured and live. They had to admit their sin and choose to believe God by looking at the bronze snake lifted up on the pole. Then they could be healed. After the people were cured of their snakebites, they continued their journey. The praised God by sining songs of praise.

John 3:17 "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

Today we continued learning about Moses. We talked about how after 39 years of waiting to get into the promised land that many of the followers were frustrated with God and were complaining about not having water for themselves or their animals. God called Moses and Aaron to the top of the mountain and spoke to them telling them to go down to the people and talk to the rock and to use their staff and strike it and water would be available to the people. Moses decided to not follow God and instead decided to hit the rock twice with his staff and water came out for the people; however, he chose not to obey God by talking to the rock first. This angered God and then God asked that Moses and Aaron as well as Aarons son, Eleazar to return to the top of the mountain. When at the top of the mountain God told Aaron to take off his robes and for his son to put them on. Only Moses and Eleazar returned down to the people because Aaron had died. God had punished them for disobeying and this made the people sad and they mourned for 30 days.
